The journey to our Little Blue School began when we attended the open house for ICS. Brent and I are both Catholic but attended public school and weren’t sure if a Catholic school was right for our family. After attending the open house and meeting the student speakers and faculty all our concerns were removed. We were blown away at the warmth of the community and the confidence of the student presenters. Kaitlyn started in kindergarten and three years later our younger daughter, Keira, started at ICS.
We knew our girls would get an amazing education, have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities, and grow in faith. But we weren’t expecting ICS to also become our community. The volunteer activities help you meet and connect with other parents—across grades. And the faculty are also actively involved in school and parish activities.
There is something for every student at ICS with groups like chess club, an annual language arts competition, Marion Prayer Club and tons of sports. For faith formation, it was incredible to have our girls participate in their sacraments along with their classmates. This made the experience more meaningful for them and also us as we talked about our journey with other parents. We appreciated how the school included students who weren’t Catholics as well, giving them special roles. There are many students who are different faiths and I think ICS does a great job including everyone and making all students feel valued.
This year Kaitlyn continues her Catholic education at Little Flower Academy. We are confident her time at ICS has prepared her for the academic rigors of LFA and her future studies, wherever they may take her. But more than that, we know the friends she made will last a lifetime and that she will keep the ICS motto to “Grow in Knowledge, Love of God, and Service to Others” for the rest of her life.
